The ferrimagnetic biomaterials have interesting applications in the treatment of cancerous tumors, by local heating in magnetic field. The present paper shows obtaining and characterization methods for ferrimagnetic biomaterials. The compounds of the biomaterial are magnetite and a bioactive glass from the system CaO – SiO2 – P2O5 – MgO – CaF2.

The obtained powders have been obtained by solid state reactions of the raw materials, in different proportions and conditions of thermal treatment.

The specific ceramic properties, chemical stability and magnetic properties of the obtained materials have been investigated.

The connections between the composition of the ceramic materials and the conditions of thermal treatment have been studied.
