The high performance composite cements for durable concretes have to develop, during hardening, high mechanical resistance structures, resistance to aggressive agents – chemical and biochemical ones, moderate or low hydration heat, and have high frost – thaw strength, compactness and imperviousness.   These requirements should be also accompanied by the efficient use of additives/admixtures for cement manufacturing and for their hardening in concretes, as well as for the preparation of high compactness concretes; in this case, an accuracy as high as possible has to be provided as far as the compatibility character of these additives with the type of used binder, so much so when these constituent additions of the Portland cement are different (various pozzolanas, pozzolanas and slags). The ever frequent information and applications lead to an investigation and selection of the obtained results, for the ever rigorous steps to be taken, with convincing effects both in research and in manufacture.  This paper deals, in a focused manner, with research works and results referring to Portland cement performant composite cements with pozzolanas with or without the use of (cementitious) slags.
